Amarok 2.2.0
Suse 11.1 KDE 4.3.3 Hello, since Amarok 2 i have the problem that, let's say every 3rd time i open amarok my collection is gone It is extremly frustrating to rescan the collection every time... i tried everything... first i used a local collection on my clients over nfs. Then i changed to mysql over NFS -> the same. I don't think that NFS could be a problem, but because of mysql i was able to put amarok on the computer where the collection is, so i have no NFS, but -> the same When the collection is gone he says: 0 titles, or 1 title or so out of 22.000 is left in the collection. And he does nothing... this stays the same until i check off all folders in the collection, say ok, check them again and then he rescans... Arg, this is frustrating. Here i have now a funny thing (ok, not so funny because also frustrating). On the clients i put off "looking for changes" that he only uses the collection from the server. Now on the server the collection is gone again (he says 0 titles) but on the clients, where i have exactly the same mysql collection all titles are there... I don't think that my 22.000 titles are to much for amarok? What can i do? Should i create a bug report? But i have no error messages for this? It's really frustrating, because i loved Amarok, but this way it gets useless for me. I am happy for all tips. Thanks |

No, you're right, that's definitely not normal. I can only assume that something is wrong with your MySQL build (MySQL Embedded is used by default). Here's one tip: Since 2.2.0 Amarok also supports an external MySQL server. Try using that. From your report it's a bit unclear whether you are using it or not. Local collection, local server, these are different things.

Thanks for answer!
I use mysql 5.0.67 from opensuse 11.1 repository. I run a lot of different things, also own scripts and a much bigger database and had no problem until now in several month with this version. I have tried both. Perhaps i must be a little clearer: Two computers: "server1", "client1" 1. Try: "MySQL Embedded" with Amarok on "client1" Files on "server1" and share over NFS 2. Try: "Mysql" with Amarok on "client1" and looking for changes _enabled_ "Mysql" database on "server1" Files on "server1" and share over NFS 3. Try "Mysql" with Amarok on "client1" but looking for changes _disabled_ "Mysql" with Amarok on "server1" but looking for changes _enabled_ "Mysql" database on "server1" Files on "server1" In every case i have the same effect like i wrote.

I forgot to say: Its wrong that i have 0 titles in collection... i have always exactly 1 title in my collection when the collection is gone.

First thing I did on openSUSE 11.1 was updating MySQL to 5.1.36 from the server:database repo.
5.0 doesn't really work. m0nk
