Sun Nov 22, 2009 2:23 pm
Hi! I did using Kubuntu 7.10 with Amarok, but now i can't run amarok and some other software. I going to make clean reinstall of OS with formating my hard drive and install Kubuntu 9.10. How can I find and save amarok database to use it in new version?
Thanks!

Please see this link:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysqldump.html

The database should be in $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ somewhere, I just can't remember where exactly, didn't use AMarok 1.x in years

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Sorry, I have SQLite database, non MySQL. I found it into /root/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection.db file. Has Amarok 2.x function to import databases from SQLite-files?

Yes, Amarok 2.x has an import function for the SQLite database: Settings menu -> Configure Amarok -> Collection -> Import Collection button.
I strongly suggest you upgrade to 2.2.1 though, since this version solves a lot of problems from the 2.2 version and it is available in the kubuntu backports PPA as described here: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.2.1

Once upgraded, make sure to do a full collection rescan (in the same menu as above), then restart Amarok to make sure your collection is displayed correctly.
