Hello,
I recently installed Chakra on sda5 and I already had Xubuntu installed on sda2. These are each root partitions, sharing sda4, which is the home partition. However, when I try to set my music collection folder in Amarok it only sees the partition on which I installed Chakra (sda5). All of my music is in the shared partition. Why can't I navigate to that? It is mounted and I can navigate to it in Dolphin. |

I think you can, [I've got collection on external usb drive] but you're doing it wrong.
Check the mount directory, and then point to it in collection directory config. Usually it is somewhere in /media, like mine "/media/My Book", if it isn't there check the /etc/fstab file for its entry.

Brilliant! I found it in /media. However, even after all the appropriate boxes were ticked, and even after I watched the progress meter hit 100 as it imported my library, I see no songs. My playlist is empty. I'd hate to think I'm too dull to use an mp3 player, but this thing seems to lack the simplicity of Rhythmbox. What am I doing wrong now? |

Your playlist will be empty as long as you won't add any songs to it
It's not so bad, you just use to different GUI style. Your collection should be in panel on a left hand side, click on home icon, and then choose Local Music [check out the screenshot below], if your collection isn't there only one thing comes to my mind: your mp3 files are not tagged, AFAIK if they're not than amarok is not showing them. http://img37.imageshack.us/i/amarok.jpg/

OK, got it now. The screenshot helped a lot. For some reason my Amarok looked like this: So you can imagine my confusion. I added the media sources section and now I see how it all works. Thanks for your help, zakonnik. You saved my music! |
