Hi,
I learned that this was not intended to be supported by the Amarok team because Audio CDs are told to be old fashioned. But lucky we are, the developers changed their mind and included support for Audio CDs. I really wonder why I should have switched to another software to listen to Audio CDs when I do have nice software like Amarok for the rest of the music! In addition, I personally prefer ripping my Audio CDs directly out of Amarok - what worked nice before! Now this was discussed in other postings and I only open a new posting at the - hopefully! - correct place to have the different answers brought together at one place. Question 1: Does Amarok support the playback of Audio CDs? Question 2: If yes, from which version on does it support it? Question 3: Are there any constraints about this? I just got an answer in another posting so I post this around here:
Hello NN,
Interesting, how does this helpful user know, what I have deactivated? I changed nothing and this is what is installed:
"ii" meaning that it is installed! Regards, Martin Current System (2011-01-06): Linux ... 2.6.35-24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 02:41:37 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux KDE 4.5.1 Two Intel Unknown 800MHz processors, 8777.70 total bogomips, 3013M RAM |

I have just tested amarok 2.2.2 on Debian sid with kdemultimedia-kio-plugins installed. Audio CDs play just fine. A new Audio CD collection appeared in "Local Music" section.
And yes, your output means kdemultimedia-kio-plugins is installed. |

I have what Debian Squeeze offers: Amarok 2.2.1. With this combination neither Amarok nor kscd works. VLC will do!
