I'm using Amarok 2.2.2 using KDE 4.3.4 librarys on Archlinux running Gnome.
I have been using amarok for over a year now and always in the center of the Context window, above the Lyrics, Wikipedia, Videoclip applets there is a ring of rotating circles - denoting that the page/applet is loading. However they never disappear, they are always present. Any ideas how to make them disappear? The applets themselves work fine. Please don't suggest switching to KDE as a solution. Regards, Nick |

This is apparently a Plasma bug that only appears when using Gnome, I never saw this on KDE.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I am also having this issue. Is there any way to fix it? or do we need to wait for a new version to be release? thanks

Could you elaborate on what distro you are using, and what desktop, and what version of KDE(libs)? Thanks.

I had the same problem. If you don't mind beta software, install the beta version of KDE and Amarok from here. Once I installed the beta KDE and Amarok the issue was gone.

So, to sum up what we developers currently know about this bug:
1) It only affects GNOME users (reason is unclear). 2) The bug is not in Amarok itself, but maybe in Plasma, or in Qt. 3) We Amarok developers cannot reproduce this at all (we're all KDE users), nor can we fix it in any way (as it's not an Amarok bug). I have reassigned one bug report to Plasma, we'll see what they say.

Correction:
It only affects non-KDE users (as reports on #amarok seem to indicate). You can follow the bug here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208102

Please try removing the following with Amarok closed:
Which will purge the SVG caches used by libplasma based applications including Amarok.

i have tried the above post and that did not affect the issue. the circles are still present; they just keep stacking up and never go away until amarok is exited and reopened
EDIT: i dont know what happened but currently i do not have this problem. maybe restarting my computer or some update in ubuntu changed something, but the problem is no longer there for me. i did remove those files as listed in the previous post, but when i opened amarok again the problem persisted. now somehow the rings are gone |

Apologies for the delay in replying.
I did the following:
However the circles are still present - even after restart of X and reboot. If there is a beta version that this is apparently fixed in then great, it is certainly no show stopper, just wanted to get some clarification on the issue. Thanks for your replies. Please let me know if you require more information to help in the debug process. |

Well, we currently assume that this is actually a bug in KDE's "Plasma" component. We made a bug report, but so far noone has reacted. What you could try: Go to #plasma on irc.freenode.net, and ask the developers if they can do anything about this bug. Here is the bug URL: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208102

I'm happy to say that this is fixed in KDE 4.4. Recall that I am running Arch linux and using Gnome as my DE. The following package names may be specific to Arch, but these are what was upgraded:
kdelibs (4.3.4-3 -> 4.4.0-3) kdebase-runtime (4.3.4-2 -> 4.4.0-3) oxygen-icons (4.3.4-1 -> 4.4.0-1) Thanks for your help. Nick |
