I installed Amarok 2.2.2 after upgrading to Ubuntu Karmic from Jaunty. I have no sound when playing songs in Amarok. If I open up the same song in VLC, I do have sound, so I believe the problem is with Amarok. Please help, thanks.

No, the problem is most likely in you not having the correct sound settings and/or codecs. VLC doesn't use Phonon and has it's own codec set, so you can't compare.
Make sure you use the Phonon xine backend and have libxine1-ffmpeg installed for mp3. If you use KDE, make sure you do not have pulseaudio installed.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks for the help. I figured that I needed some codecs. However, after installing libxine1-ffmpeg for mp3 playback, I notice that the mp3 playback is choppy and skips. If I play the same mp3 in VLC the output is clear with no issue. Any idea why the mp3 playback in Amarok is choppy? |

I just answered in your other thread. Please do not ask the same question twice...

Sorry for the duplicate post. I posted the question in a new thread and then responded to your response in this one. |
