I'm using Amarok 2.2.2 with Ubuntu Karmic and have installed Xine, the Ubuntu restricted extras package, and mp3 support via sudo apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
If I play an mp3 in Amarok, the output is choppy and skips. If I play the same file in VLC, there is no issue. I did not install Gstreamer. Could this be the issue or is it something else? |

Do you have ReplayGain activated?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I do not know what ReplayGain is? Where would I check whether it is activated or not? Thanks for the help. |

Please look at the Settings menu. Replay Gain is a setting...
You should search the forum a bit, almost all your questions have been asked before.

I did search the forums for all of my questions. However, I did not find solutions. I did not search for Replay Gain because I assumed you would respond with more information about it. I found the setting that you referred to and turning Replay Gain off seems to have fixed the mp3 playback being choppy issue. Thank you for your help. I will try to be more diligent in looking for answers on the forum in my future posts. |
