Very pleased to see custom labels re-introduced to amarok. Alas i can't figure how to use these custom labels to search my collection.
I have added a label 'mylabel' to a number of tracks in my collection. Now i was expecting a search label:mylabel to retrieve these tracks. Doesn't work though.. can i achieve this any other way?

It's probably not yet implemented. I hope there will be improvements in 2.2.3

hmm, can anybody tell if and when this will be implemented? Don't really see what i should be doing with custom labels if i can't search on them.. With the ability to search on custom labels however, amarok would finally be more or less perfect in my opinion.

Problem solved: you need to put an empty space before 'mylabel'. So the search that retrieves the labeled tracks is
label: mylabel Thanks to the following thread for this: viewtopic.php?f=116&t=77509&start=10#p144590 amarok really desperately needs better documentation. It is so much more powerful than most people ever find out. I'd volunteer to put some time into this myself, only i don't know the features that need to be documented..

You are welcome to give a hand If we had as many people writing documentation as those complaining about the lack of it...
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hey Zebedee -- we are gathering a group to put out the new Handbook, and other documentation, so why not drop into our IRC channel, and/or join the mail list? irc://irc.freenet.org/rokymotion https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/amarok-promo Valorie |

Maybe I'm wrong here, but looking at the code I can't see any special case for a "label:" filter. It seems to me that if no field is specified then the search defaults to a set of standard fields to filter (such as title, URL and a few other). So my guess is that if "label: mylabel" seems to work it's because it is searching for <mylabel> in other fields but not among the labels. Can anyone confirm this?
Anyway IIRC someone was volunteering to implement this feature some time ago. I agree that having labels without the possibilty to use them for filtering and making dynamic playlists is only a half-feature. That said, let me thank the developers for their costant work to always make Amarok better and better. |
