Amarok stops playing after tracks (nondeterministically)

So, I'm a new user of these forums and I've got a problem with Amarok 2.2.2. (sorry about the cliched introduction)

Often, approximately 50% of the time after Amarok finishes playing a track it will stop playing even though the play mode is set to random/continue. Additionally, if I pause a track and then press play again (either in the gui or via hotkeys) the play icon will stay in its "depressed" state and nothing will happen. If I press stop and play it will play from the start of the track.

This is with the Xine backend on Kubuntu 9.10 using ALSA. I'm running the most recent version of Amarok from the PPA and I've tried restarting Amarok and the entire system to no avail. Additionally I've also tried rescanning the media library, also to no effect.

If anyone would have any ideas I'd be much obliged!

I've "solved" the problem by completely wiping the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok directory and recreating my track databate, playlist and configuration. This isn't a real solution as I don't know the original cause of the problem, however if someone else were to have the same problem then try this (YMMV).

I still experience this even in Amarok 2.3.0, well occasionally. When it happens, Amarok stops playing after completing each track and would not move on to the next track in the queue unless told to. Whenever this happens, I have to close Amarok and reopen it.

Deleting the database is not a solution for me as I have a huge collection and the stats about the songs are important to me.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix or proper solution to this?

Don't worry, erasing the database is certainly not necessary to solve this issue.

There is a known bug with last.fm streams: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201233

Most of the time though the problem doesn't lie in Amarok but in Phonon, since Amarok doesn't play sound itself. This highly depends on the distribution you use, whether you use the gstreamer or xine backend, if you do or not use Pulseaudio. I suggest to explore these paths.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
