Flac files

Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:05 pm
I'm start to ripping again my music in flac and I detect that Amarok stops to play flac music a few seconds before song ends with last song in playlist, I detect the problems because song cuts suddenly.

I'm using Audex to rip my music and I think first that it was a ripping problem so I test the file with xine, exaile (gstreamer) and mplayer and I found that the song was ok.

Then I do a few test in Amarok and I discover that if I change the playlist order the problem is always with the last song of the playlist.

I'm using 2.2-GIT version update today so anybody has the same problem with flac files. I must fill a bug report?

Yes, I can confirm that, also on current git version. Using the xine backend in phonon. So now we are two and you can file a bug report :)

Which is a duplicate of a Phonon bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172394
Not much we ca do about that, sorry.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks, I don't think that this is a Phonon bug.

And why do you think this? Some more details that prove your thought would be really useful...

The Phonon-backend-xine clips Flac files in various positions, seems to be quite random, so it doesn't matter if the bug report says it clips the end of the file, it also does this randomply in the middle or at start, and in various length. Also, if I say random I mean it, since most of the time I can listen to my Flac files correctly.

The Phonon developers are working on a VLC backend that should solve the backend problems once and for all and do collaborate with the VLC developers for that.

Umm, I don't know what understood you. My comment was only to indicate that I didn't do a search in bugs.kde.org for phonon+flac and no more. If I did it I found the bug and I didn't create a new duplicated bug report.

Sorry for my engrish.
