Playlist burn to USB

Sun Feb 14, 2010 6:01 pm
Hi I am new here and new to Linux. I am running Mandriva and Amarok 2.2.2

I have a problem whereby I created a playlist in Amarok and then wanted to transfer the whole thing to a 16gb memory stick. The playlist is a mixture of mp3 and wma but I have the wma plugin and everything works ok.

When I tried to transfer the playlist, "Export" only transfers the index file and not the actual music files.

I tried also by selecting the whole playlist and right clic for file transfer option, but there isn't one, or a burn option either.

So, the question is, can I save a playlist complete with music files to a USB memory stick?

Any help appreciated, as I posted this on the Mandriva community forum, but no replies.

Amarok is not a burning application, you can only copy tracks for now. Exporting playlists to devices is work in progress, though.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks for that mamarok.

would the exporting of playlists include exporting to K3b or Nero, and is there a timescale for usability? Just a thought, would the existing playlists be readable by K3b or Nero as it stands, and where are the playlist directories saved?

regards

Sorry, but why would you want to use a burning software for a USB device? K3b and Nero are for CD/DVD burning, a USB device has a completely different filesystem and one loads files on it with a file browser. Think again...

Errrr..........

Yes, since I posted this I have opened k3b and Nero and realized I was barking up the wrong tree..........

I have created playlists in Amarok, and have realized that the format for Export is m3u. Apart from transferring the music files manually (they are large playlists, up to 250 titles) I seem to be up the creek without a paddle.

I assume there is no other way??????

It's being worked on but unfortunately it's unlikely to be introduced in 2.3, the next version we just released a beta for.

The USB stick should already show up in the "Saved Playlists" section but doesn't accept drops yet.
Once we support it dropping a playlist onto the USB stick will copy the playlist to the device and make sure all the tracks are on it as well.
