Cannot play flac

Using: Version 2.2.90
KDE 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0) "release 2"
Suse 11.2

Flac files make a loud noise with music buried underneath. They play in VLC and Mplayer.

Correction - it appears that some flacs play and other do not. The ones not playing are 24bit. This is outside my level of knowledge on audio stuff....

You're probably missing the right codecs (plugins) for FLAC.

Please ask in an openSUSE forum.

I have all the codecs as far as I can see.

Googling around, I think there is an issue with Xine and 24bit flac.

However, it was a very simple job to convert the files, so I can now play them in Amarok.
