Tracks not copied: the device already has these tracks

I had to restore my iPod. It was doing some odd things.

... so now I have an iPod Video 5.5G with a fresh format and the latest firmware. When I try copy tracks from local collection to it, I get the message "Tracks not copied: the device already has these tracks".

I'm on Arch, by the way. KDE 4.4.1 but this issue has been present since 4.4.0 at least.

I've tried:

- deleted ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok
- set the database to an external mysql instance
- complete update of collection
- "stale and orphaned"

Any ideas? I'd really like to load up my iPod again.

Thank you. :)

... if I knew what files to delete, I'd happily re-install the application.

Reinstalling on ArchLinux, however, does not remove the configs sufficiently to fix the issue.

I hate to nag but it's clear there is some config I'm not removing when I remove the app.

I'm running ArchLinux. I've removed the app and the ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok directory. Even still, it thinks songs are on the iPod.

The thing is, I *can* put songs on the unit that weren't on it before.

I can't find any other config. I've also installed it using an external mysql database. I can't find anything in the database that seems like a per device file list.

Any ideas?

Further investigation reveals the tracks that won't copy are FLAC. I just happened to select this material, although most of my CDs are ripped in FLAC.

I tried ripping a CD to mp3 and it transfers fine.

Odd error message but at least I feel better about the problem. :)

And what exact Amarok version are you talking about?

Also, a little bit of patience wouldn't hurt, you asked your first question at 18:10 UTC yesterday and nagged at 07:15 UTC. Sometimes people are just asleep or at work :)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I apologize for bumping this thread and if desired I can create a new thread. However I'm also having this problem. My specs are as follows:
Amarok 2.2.2
Mandriva 2010
Sony Walkman NWZ-S545

Amarok reads the existing files properly but if I try to add a file I encounter this same message. Again, if its preferred that I open a new thread I'm glad to do so.

This is the exact error that I get with my iPhone 3GS and Amarok 2.3.2 on Ubuntu 10.10. I haven't resolved this yet.
