amarok + aol (quick question)

Fri Mar 05, 2010 3:08 pm
Question as simple as that:
Is there a way to play or should I say:
"to have a list of AoL radio stations in Amarok?"

(just like in Winamp)

I've search for the answer without results.
Cool streams, are good, but - not enough sometimes.

Magnatune doesn't bother me.

Last FM also (you need to have payed account to have possibility of adding a whole genre to playlist, and need to spend to much of a time, to add music to the personal box..... I really want to just listen to radio).

Podcasts worked when i had (kubuntu 7.xx, and 6.xx) but in 9.10 they just don't.

You should be able to play all streams that are not encrypted, provided the stream URL doesn't contain errors.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

What do you mean, that i should be able to play all streams (not encrypted)?
Those that I'll provide, or all that are now in Amarok.
Cause if You're talking about the second ones, believe me:
They just don't work.
I can only listen to Cool Streams.
(and i tested it in x64 and x32 architecture of Kubuntu 9.10)
(and yes I have internet and always newest updates of linux)

The thing to add all of the radios from different genres as a single url, one by one, is also nothing good for me, and I suppose for many of users that would have a possibility by choosing the genre and in second step - choosing radio station.

That's why i was asking about aol.
Just having the list of genres in amarok in for example internet>aol;
and then clicking on the radio station.

OK, now I understand what you mean. You should have a look at the 3rd-party scripts providing radio stations then, in particular the following:

ShoutCastService
Playing OGG Streams
BBC OpenContant Service
Icecast.org Directory Service

and many, many more. You can add those through the Script Mamanger:

Tools menu -> Script Manager -> Get more Scripts. Once you've downloaded those, restart Amarok and activate the scripts in the ScriptManager, those will show up in the Internet Services section.
