I searched a bit through the threads here. There is some mentioning of this, but I could not find the definitive solution.
In Amarok 1 I used to click on an mp3 somewhere on the system and it them opened in Amarok, being in the playlist. When I liked it, I rightclicked and updated the Tags to my wish. I then right clicked again and used "move track to the collection". Amarok then asked for confirmation of the directory and file to use (something like Artist/Album/Track from the collection root. And there you go. (About the same feature can be found on right clicking on a track IN the collection. There it is called Reorganize ..., but it is basicaly the same. And it still exists in Amarok 2) Until now I failed to find this or a similar feature in Amarok 2.2.90. I refuse to believe that it is impossible to add tracks to the collection, so there must be a way other then this one (that was a very obvious solution when I started using Amarok 1). I found a thread here with what I thought was the same question, the answer was a bit vague, but I interpreted it as: It is not in the playlist, but it can be found in the File Menu. Again I interpreted File Menu as "Files Browse local hard drive ... (I suppose that this is about mass storage avaiable on the system) in the left panel. But when I browse there to an mp3 file and right click there is only: Add to Playlist, Replace Palylist and Edit Tags. So I am stuck and my number of files I want to add to the collection is growing slowly

I am proud to anounce that it is solved. I just installed Amarok 2.3.0 and when having Files in the left panel and right clicking on a track, both (copy and move) are there.
A bit strange that nobody hee could tell me

The Files menu is completely new and still being improved. I'm glad things are working for you now. Valorie |

I'm a bit confused. As a gentoo-user in amarok-2.3.0 I don't have the option "move/copy to collection" anymore. Only "Add to playlist", "Replace playlist", "Edit track details" and "Delete" are available. So this version is useless for me. In amarok-2.2.2-r1 I can still add music to the collection via the file browser in amarok.
Is it planned to remove this option finally? If yes. Why. In my opinion alternatives like easytag are not so comfortable to organize a music collection as amarok do it (especially 2.2.2-r1). |
