Hi!

Well I've been using Amarok since a couple days now and I'm already starting to loving it. However I updated my reps and the new version installed.

I have some weird glitch that I don't know if can be called a bug, so I haven't filed the report yet.

The thing is that when I start playing a song, sometimes the first second of the song is muted and later on it plays just fine (it seems to happen on specific songs though, like Bon Jovi's Say it isn't so, which in other players like VLC or Winamp play perfectly), in others the first 3 or so seconds of the song play faster and later on it just starts playing normal, I have no idea on how to work around this since there doesn't seem to be any configuration or plugin that would be causing it (only have the gnome multimedia keys and ultimate lyrics enabled).

There is another problem I'm having with some specific albums, the songs appear in disorder for an unknown reason and when they're into the playlist they appear not only in disorder but also as two separate albums, yet again in other players (I was previously using rhythmbox (meh)) they appear in correct order and as a unique album:

I'm using ubuntu karmik (9.10).

Thanks for the help.

Ps: the spanish version has some mistranslations like calling the plugin manager "gestor de guiones", which should be "gestor de plugins", ¿where do I report that?

What backend are you using for Amarok? Xine is recommended, as less buggy than Gstreamer. Also, are you using Pulseaudio? If so, make sure it's at the top of the list. It doesn't play well with others.

The specific albums you are seeing split and out of order sound like they have some minor difference in the tags. Either re-tag in the tagger you use, such as Picard, EasyTag or Kid3, or edit the tags of the *album* rather than the tracks so that they are all *precisely* the same for Artist, Album, genre and year. Then check that the tracks are not only properly named, but also tagged for track #.

Please report the Spanish mis-translations as a bug in bugs.kde.org .

Thanks, and good luck!

That was fast XD.

Well, checked and everything seems to be just as you suggested, pulse audio over any other device, and Xine is the only backend I have installed and the problem is still there.

One weird thing I forgot to mention is that at the moment I started the player after the update a notification appeared saying something like some device was removed. Before the update the list of devices had more available options, now some of them appear blurred, the ones that were cited in the notification:

About the tags thing, I'll try what you said. Thx.

You probably do not want to leave your camera as your second choice of sound! Move that to the bottom, and test the other two to see which should be at the top.

This can happen if some of the files define a disk number (e.g., disk 1 of 2) in the ID3 tag, but the others do not. Try checking the track details.

The other two options can't be selected :S.

I'll try to solve it the winblows way: uninstall and reinstall to see what happens XD.

EDIT: still the same results >.< but at least the two options are highlighted again and can be selected, weird thing is that the problem is with specific songs as far as I can tell, they start quick and later catch up, sounds horrible.

@Marcel: thanks for the advice, I've already checked the ID3 tags with various software (Winamp, Rhythmbox, Songbird, picard) and the problem seems to be only with Amarok =/, even rewrote manually all the ID3 tags for each album that has the problem and Amarok ignores the changes, no matter if I uninstall it and reinstall it deleting all the old settings and plugins, it still messes a lot =/.

If Amarok is ignoring the changes, that means that you have a permissions problem. If you want to be able to write metadata, Amarok must have both read and write permissions to your files. You can easily check this in Dolphin - click the little file folder next to the filename in the Tag Edit screen.
