I am on Ubuntu 9.10, KDE4 and Amarok 2.2.3 and I cannot seem to bring back the menubar. I have seen other forum posts that suggest ctrl+m but it does not seem to work.
Maybe something related to this topic? brainstorm.php#idea86530_page1 Right-click on the system tray icon does not have a "settings" option either. Any ideas how I can bring back the menubar? |

I guess you are using Gnome, then Ctrl+m might indeed not work. Close Amarok and try erasing the configuration files in $HOME/.kde/share/config/, they all start with amarok*. This should solve the problem.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Actually, I am using KDE4. I'll check my key mappings to see if ctrl+m has been overloaded. What should it be mapped ?
I tried deleting amarok* under .kde/share/apps and .kde/share/config - neither seems to do the trick. Finally I renamed my .kde directory (I had only a couple of configs and apps to restore prefs for, so it wasn't a big deal) and it restored the menubar. Could the configs have been in some other directory? |

So your using Kubuntu, not Ubuntu, it would have help to be precise about that.
Possible the configuration is somewhere else in $HOME/.kde/share/config/, I just don't know where precisely. Be aware that erasing the folders in $HOME/.kde/share/apps/ erases your database, including the ratings and statistics. I hope you did a backup before erasing it.

I have not used this machine much, so no harm done. In the future, I'll try to be a little less brutal. ![]() |
