Hi all
I have a very similar problem too. Running, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - "Lucid Lynx", Amarok Version 2.3.0 - Using KDE 4.4.2 (loaded with Lucid maybe out of date? Latest version is unknown and not sure how to update/grade it?) Added the extra files - Kubuntu restricted extras, Commonly used applications with restricted copyright for kubuntu (mp3, avi, mpeg, TrueType, Java, Flash) and Ubuntu restricted extras Commonly used applications with restricted copyright (mp3, avi, mpeg, TrueType, Java, Flash, Codecs) My Directory 'Music and MP3's' is 4 dir's deep incl, 'Artist A-Z' then files. To Try and add files, Settings> Configure Amarok> Collection (tick the location of Files - 'Music and MP3's') Tick Scan folders recursively, tick Watch folders for changes, no tick on ...detection in ID3 tags. Then I hit "Apply". Amarok scanning bar shows it's looking for them, ends on 100% and thats it, no wait I had 1 time only that the "Local Collection" was "Counting". I left it run for about 4mins or less, closed Configure Amarok by Clicking OK. "Counting" stopped immediately! No music added at all :\ Hey this is a serious problem I need my sounds or podcast working while I do the dishes ![]() Do I need some other files too? or update to the beta?? Thanks In Advance |

try these:
1) upgrade to 2.3.1, it's not beta - it's the current release 2) rename (or delete) your existing Amaork files or create a new user and test Amarok as that user. This will determine if issue is dad config file -- there are 3 files /.kde4/share/config/amarok* and one directory ~/.kde4/share/apps/akregator |

Awesome - Tried step 1 and upgraded via the terminal commands on the site here, Detected and ran OK. (Man Hug!)
Will be testing now for next few days. Cheers 10 OCt 2010 Yes that fixed the problem. Please consider this thread closed. Many Thanks Chris |
