Any mp3 tags that were not edited by Amarok itself gives errors:
Also, all mp3 files have a 0:00 time. Flacs are fine. Versions: Easytag: 2.1.6-1ubuntu1 Kid3: 1.3-1ubuntu3 Amarok: 2:2.3.0-0ubuntu4 KDE: 4.4.2 Kubuntu: Lucid Lynx 10.04 I have tried
Is there a good configuration of easytag that someone has that I can try? I would prefer NOT to use kid3 because it takes too long for a large collection. If configuration is not the issue, what is? |

This sounds like a Taglib problem, and I'm wondering what you have installed. In my Lucid system, I have libtag1-vanilla as the package-name, version 1.6.2-0ubuntu1.
I've seen no problems with picard, easytag, or kid3 tagging in Amarok. Valorie |

I am running libtag1-vanilla 1.6.3-0ubuntu1. I will try downgrading to 1.6.2.

What doesn't it like? I'm running 1.6.2 under openSuse and never had any tag issues with Amarok. Did you update something? Did Amarok ever like your tags? Is this first time use of Amarok? Do other apps like your tags?

Sorry for the incomplete information. I have have been using Amarok since 2005 and the beta that came with early kde4. I update often, but try to stay away from betas.
And to tell you the truth, I have had problems with Amarok and tags since kde4 came out. Banshee Media Player reads the ID3 tags fine. Just found out that VLC is having issues with the tags too. Some of the information is missing like the track number and the titles. I downgraded the libtag1-vanilla to 1.6.2 and I am now rewriting the tags with Easytag. |

I think I am getting somewhere. After rewriting the tags with Easytag after I downgraded libtag, touched everything again, and rescanned entire collection; some of the tags showed up in Amarok. Seems to be every other random album still does not read the tags. Not to mention the information is greyed-out out in Amarok.
However, VLC now reads all the tags correctly now. I think my music is becoming sentient... |

Please check the permissions if the tags are grayed-out. That almost always means no write permission for your user.

Everything is -rw-r--r-- for both the ones that are greyed-out and the ones that aren't.
Owner and Group is also correct. |

It works now.
I tried to listen to an Internet stream(m3u file) and Amarok crashed. After that, I could not get ANY sound out of Amarok at all. I ended up deleting my ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and amarok_homerc. Everything is as it should be now, except I have to redo my layout and reinstall the Alarm script. That is quick and easy though. Thanks for the quick replies. |

Thanks for sticking with it. I'm glad you are enjoying your music once more.
