Hi All,
I had Amarok working perfectly in Lucid, then I upgraded to Alpha 10.10, worked perfectly fine also (no clue what version). 10.10 had issues so I fresh installed with my /home partition in tact. After installing amarok I was unable to build my library (no errors, just saw no songs, looked like it was building, would go through the 1-100%, take about 2-4 minutes) but no songs would come up. I then proceeded to delete my .kde folder, fresh install again and check it out again...same issue. Then I installed nightly from the intrepid repo and it works fine. It's version 2.2.GIT-NEON, vs. the build that's in the Ubuntu repos which is 2.3.0 Is this a bug? Any help would be appreciated, using a nightly build for my music player isn't ideal. Thanks all |

Here is more information. Checked my collection_scan.files within my .kde folder and it shows all of my music scanned and lists everything, but still nothing shows in the GUI...I can play music fine if I go to amarok -> open media

Well, you are using Maverick which is in Alpha stage, please address this issue to Kubuntu, as it is in no way related to Amarok. We cannot offer support for people using non-released Alpha stage distributions.
FWIW: Amarok 2.3.1 works perfectly well on Kubuntu 10.04, please revert your Linux distribution if you need a stable Amarok. If you want to test alpha distributions or software I strongly suggest you run this in a virtual setting. Alpha software is not suitable for a productive environment.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I'm using a fresh install of Lucid, Maverick was having issues non related to amarok (not major ones but none the less issues that bothered me) so I formatted my root partition and installed lucid again. Every other music player works perfectly fine (Rythmbox, Exaile, XMMS, VLC (I know not really a music player but it does play music ). Also amarok plays music, it just won't build my collection
Sorry wasn't very clear on my last post, when I said 10.10 is having issues so I fresh installed, I was saying "I fresh installed Lucid". |

Did you install Ubuntu or Kubuntu? Being a tad more precise about your settings would help a lot...
If you use Amarok on Gnome then you miss the MySQL packages needed to build a collection. This is a packaging problem in the 2.3.0 package for Lucid, please make sure you have the following packages installed: * libmysqlclient16 * libmysqld-pic * mysql-client-core-5.1 * mysql-common

Thanks for the quick replies. Those packages were not installed but after installing them there was no change, I still have the collection file in .kde/share/apps/amarok, it shows my entire collection in the text, inside of amarok itself there is no music showing but if I manually play a song through amarok by going to amarok -> play media, works no problem.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, not having my favorite music player is frustrating |

Please try to upgrade to Amarok 2.3.1: http://kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.3.1
If the collection files still don't show up, please do a full collection rescan, then restart Amarok.

Thanks again for the quick reply. Again neither fixed it. I've already tried rescanning fully multiple times, but I went ahead and upgraded and still nothing....not sure what else I can do

You should run amarokcollectionscanner -r in the main collection folder from a terminal and check the output for errors. Please paste the relevant lines.

Thanks for the assistance. I hadn't properly upgraded to 2.3.1 and that did fix the problem. There is something definitely wrong with 2.3.0 in the repos and I have no clue what it is/was but despite three fresh installs of Lucid I couldn't get my collection to show. This was not a computer config issue because I even set up a new user just to test and have a clean slate for configs and that didn't solve the problem. I think that this needs to be looked into further or 2.3.1 needs to get to the repositories immediately. Thanks again, you helped a lot
