Amarok - No tracks being detected

Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:27 pm
Running Ubuntu 10... I've install the appropriate packages (kubuntu-restricted-extras)... running Gnome...

I've take a screen shot to show you what I'm looking at. I really like the way Amarok looks like (compared to Rhythmbox); but can't get it to run for the life of me.

I also have re-scanned my media folder, etc.

what version are you running ? you should get 2.3.1 see http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.3.1 it's in the backports

If up'ing doesn't help I would guess you're missing a mysql package (operative word is guess)

When will 2.3.1 get to the official repos? It seems like 2.3.0 is having some serious issues detecting tracks

That is something to ask the Kubuntu developers, we do not handle distribution packages. Also you have been given a link to the PPA, didn't you?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Yes and I have 2.3.1 installed, but browsing google a bit I found it to be a consistent problem with 2.3.0 (although everyone is defining it slightly differently) and the go to solution is to upgrade. I think if upgrading is necessary to get the software to work properly than it should be priority to get it in the regular repos instead of having to add the PPA. I'll forward this to Ubuntu team and see what happens

Please, forward it to the Kubuntu developers, The Ubuntu Team (whjatever you mean by that) has nothing to do with Amarok or other KDE software.
Just so you know: it will eventually be pushed to the Lucid backports once 2.3.2 is released, certainly not in main or universe, as Amarok 2.3.1 is not a bugfix only release. That's how K/Ubuntu works: it is not a rolling distribution, and that's what the PPAs are for.
