Hi, i''m having a big problem. I like amarok, but I've never used before (I've seen my buddy use it) but I'm having problem since the file manager cannot find any music files, or any filess beside that. and then when I'm trying to play music it says that the phonon that are installed cannot play sound... only that I've installed Kmplayer and it's working.
I'm using Xubuntu 10.04 on an acer aspire one thank you for taking your time to read this and trying to help me^^ |

I'm assuming you're running 2.3.0, upgrading to 2.3.1 should fix what I think is your music files problem see http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.3.1
In settings -> configure amarok -> plaback -> configure phonon -> backend What is the backend set to? In settings -> configure amarok -> plaback -> configure phonon -> device prdferences What is "music" device set to? is it greyed out? |

Can you tell us more? What did you try to do, when you attempted to upgrade? What happened then? If you followed http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download:Kubuntu you should have success. The easy way is to do the following in a console:
What happens when you do that? Valorie |

Did you add that repository to your sources? Of course this can only work if you use the latest Xubuntu 10.04, it is not available for 9.10 Make sure you have both the kubuntu-restricted-extras and the ubuntu-restricted-extras packages installed. Those should install without any problem in Xubuntu as well, as the repositories are the same for all flavors of Ubuntu. Also, checking with alsamixer if you have nothing muted is an option, alsamixer is a package you can install and start from a terminal.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

the problem was that I hadn't installed either kubuntu-restricted-extras nor ubuntu-restricted-extras.
now it does work fine, atleast it can play music, and I can see the music files too ^^ thanks for all your help |
