I'm running Kubuntu Lucid 64 Bit, 2.6.32-24-generic and Amarok 2:2.3.0-0ubuntu4 updated trough ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa.
As the title suggests, every time I try to scan my local collection, amarok crashes with a segmentation fault at a fairly random percentage of completion. Additionally, cat ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.log produces the location of a random valid mediafile. I've also tried removing and regenerating both amarok configuration files and other program generated files without any difference to the above behaviour. Plays media fine as long as I add it manually, but the collection engine is the prime reason I use amarok. Ideas? |

Lucid ships Amarok 2.3.0 by default. If you updated Amarok you should have version 2.3.1, not 2.3.0. Please check again if you added the repository correctly. See also http://kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.3.1
Which MySQL are you using? The default is MySQLe, this should just work out of the box. You can configure an external MySQL server, but unless you need it for different computers there is no advantage over MySQLe. Once updated, please run amarokcollectionscanner in a terminal, --help shows you the options.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
