Can amarok perform these tasks?
1. Generate a playlist of 130 random songs from my collection. 2. Copy those 130 songs to my file system based mp3 player. If these two tasks are possible, can someone please explain how to do this? Ive been trying forever now. |

You can't by track count, but by playlist duration. Please use the Automatic Playlist Generator, provided since Amarok 2.3.1
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Unfortunately I cant try the new version until Ubuntu updates what they have in there repo for my distro. If I add the ppa for the newest amarok it will bring in a **** load of bleeding edge packages that I will not be able to sift through.

You can choose selectively what to install if you use a package manager, then disable the PPA afterwards.
There will be no update until Maverick is out, I don't know if you are aware of that. Backports-PPA is in no way bleeding edge, BTW.

Ok... I've generated an 8 hour playlist with the Automatic Playlist Generator.
That solved problem #1. But how do I copy the 8 hours of tracks to my file system based mp3 player, which was the 2nd task I asked about in my first post? I don't see any context to copy to collection.... |

You could use drag&drop from the playlist to your mp3 player opened in dolphin.

Save the playlist to the disk, then you can copy it to the Media Player from $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/playlists/ with a file manager.
Copying from the playlist is not implemented yet.

All tracks go into the root of the device. No structure. I would like it to be '/Artist/file_name.mp3'. Is there a way to do this? |

That directory is empty. |

make sure you really choose the option "Save to disk": when saving, stay clicked on the save button and you will see a drop-down menu.

Not working. This is what happens - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apbfs2q2Xig |

It doesn't work because you don't have write permissions on the device, this is not an Amarok problem, you need to set the permissions of the drive correctly.

Could it be a permission issue of the playlist file itself? Because I can copy any other file to the divice except that playlist file in /home/vinnie/.kde/share/apps/amarok/playlists/. |

Why do you ask me? I can't check the permission of your files for you, you need to do this yourself Also, not all devices support xspf or/and playlist handling in general. I have a rather old no-name mp3 player here that only supports mp3 and only individual files can be copied.
the command ls -la should show you the permissions.
