hi,
is it possible to prevent amarok (2.3) from automounting my mp3 player? thanks for your help. |

Just to clarify, Amarok doesn't mount, or unmount. That is handled by Solid. If you plug in your mp3 player before you start Amarok, you can ensure it is unmounted. Then when you start Amarok, it won't be seen.

Have a look at KDE's system settings, advanced section, "Removable devices". There, you can define whether a device should be automounted. (this all assumes, you are using KDE 4.4 and later)

Sorry, that is not possible, Amarok uses the given system settings, if a device is mounted it will show in Amarok.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Although, I should add there is a plan to make it possible to disable specific collections from appearing in music sources [1]. If there is enough developer time it might be included in the next version.
