I thought I had the answer to this, but I was wrong; I've Amarok 2.3 installed on Ubuntu 10.4, Gnome desktop. How do Iget the music files on my hard drive into my local collection? My files are in a foldee that is scanned by Amarok, and they show up under the files button, but my local collection remains empty.
Thanks M |

Thanks. I installed the latest version et al and received this error:
Amarok could not find any collection plugins. It is possible that Amarok is installed under the wrong prefix, please fix your installation using: $ cd /path/to/amarok/source-code/ $ su -c "make uninstall" $ cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` && su -c "make install" $ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental $ amarok More information can be found in the README file. For further assistance join us at #amarok on irc.freenode.net. Which I simply don't understand. I think I am supposed toyuse the terminal to uninstall and reinstall. |

Do you have the xine plugins installed?
to install: sudo apt-get install libxine1-plugins libxine1-all-plugins fyi - the things you posted are for when you compile from source code |

That has little to do with the collection plugins
Please run the following command in a terminal:
and try again. Also make sure you only have one Amarok version installed.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Well, if you have a running Amarok now, no need to do what I suggested
