Multiple genre tags - FLAC

Sun Sep 12, 2010 8:55 pm
I use picard/MusicBrainz to tag my files. Recently I also started using a plugin that pulls last.fm tags to use for the genre field.

The way it's setup, it adds multiple genre tags, one for each relevant last.fm tag. I've verified that the tags are present in both mp3 and FLAC files, but when I try to use the files in Amarok, it picks up all the different genre tags from the mp3-files, but will only show a single genre tag for FLAC files.

Any hints how to get Amarok to show/use all genre tags for FLAC files?

Are you speaking of genre TAGS, or LABELS? Tags are found in the Amarok edit screen tab Tags, while labels are found in the edit screen tab Labels.

They are different things, used differently. As far as I know, Amarok can use only one genre tag, while it will accept and use (in certain circumstances) many labels.

Also, as far as I know, picard doesn't do genre tagging.

The last.fm plugin uses what last.fm calls tags to add labels in Amarok.

I'm referring to TAGS. And Amarok seems perfectly happy to support multiple genre tags if the file is in MP3 format, but will display/use only one if the file is in FLAC format. Hence my query.

There is a last.fm plugin for Picard to make it use last.fm tags as genre tags for files, and this is what I use to make Picard do genre tagging.
