Hello there..
I'm just trying to get rid of my mess in my collection but I haven't used the 'move to collection' feature since the switch to amarok2. It was possible in amarok1 to use something like { [%year]} to resolve empty tags and to prevent to fill the folder and filename with unnecessary blankspace and chars. Is the same anyhow possible in amarok2 too? I'm using KDE 4.5.1 with amarok svn build. Lia |

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would urge you to use a tagger such as Picard, EasyTag or Kid3 to help you reorganize and tag. Picard is my favorite, since it will get "musical fingerprints" of your tracks, and will both rename and tag if you desire.
Once you have your collection tidy and tagged, ask Amarok to scan it, and you're done! |

Uhm.. that sounds like I should better not mess around with the tagging features in amarok ^^
I've noticed already that it's pretty crashy and doesn't work well yet. I hope the developers will put some work in this. It's really nice to have one suit which does all music related things. I'm going to use Picard for tagging I think, it looks pretty nice with the musicbrainz backend. But I'm still looking for an answer to my question. Amarok seems to be a little bit heavy for just a player with lyrics features. Yes I know it can do more but these are the mainfeatures I use. Amarok lived by the great ways to organize the collection.. at least for me ^^ |

"Just a player with lyrics function" is a bland understatement Have you only had a look at all the functions and applets available? It's really worth to have a look. You really underestimate Amarok
Also I suggest you build from git, the SVN version is more than a year old and completely outdated...
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Ah true true.. I am using the git. I didn't have a look into the ebuild when I've posted my question above. Yes I know it can do a lot more but I have troubles already with moving tracks into the playlist with my 6 year old pc ^^ |
