Hello all!

I am using Amarok Version 2.3.0 (Using KDE 4.4.2), even though I'm running on Gnome. My distribution is Ubuntu 10.04.

Everything with Amarok (and Ubuntu) had been working hunky-dory until yesterday, when several bizarre errors popped up at the same time.

There are two which concern Amarok. Everytime I open the program now, I get an error message telling me "Error - Amarok - Could not start process Cannot talk to klauncher: The name org.kde.klauncher was not provided by any .service files."

Once I hit ok, Amarok starts up fine and seemingly works, except that now I can't add songs to my ipod all of a sudden. Before Amarok took 20 seconds to add an album's worth of songs, but now the program stalls at 0% progress.

Other bizarre things going on in general, that may help to diagnose the problem, but may be entirely unrelated: every time I boot the machine, I get an error stating that /home/myname/.ICEAuthority can not be updated, and that every time I try to access the Sound preferences I get a message stating "waiting for sound system to respond." The only reason I bring this up is because all three errors began simultaneously.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

I will guess that something graphical was run as root using gksu / sudo / kdesudo.
The fix is to run the following in a virtual terminal, without KDE or GNOME running:
sudo rm /home/$(id -un)/.ICEAuthority

KDE Sysadmin
