It all depends on what you are trying to sync... I sync all my contacts calendar with my online ovi account and skip the ovi suite software. Just look for the ovi sync app on your phone. The only thing you might want to use the suite for is the backup option if you need that sort of thing though I don't know why when you can cloud it into your ovi account. At least thats how i see it

I just use dolphin to transfer but you can also use the amarok copy to function...but I'm new to this phone and not the most knowledgeable about amarok

Yeah, I was wondering if there was some other sync capability. I read on some nokia forums that it's 'better' to sync with the Ovi app rather than using it as a UMS device, since then it updates some internal info for better album art/navigation, but I don't know. I need to play around with it more still.
And if it's not too hard to add to amarok maybe i'll do that too, once we rewrite the mediadevice framework

The N8, like all recent Symbian phones support the MTP protocol (select Media transfer on USB connect). The MediaDevice rewrite team (me - UMS and stuffcorpse - iPod) can use a 3th for MTP. Scratch that itch Leo |

Hehe I learned that it was MTP indeed, thank god. Of course I can't actually transfer anything to/from it, that would be asking too much of the mediadevice framework
