I've been wasting hours on this. I don't know if I'm just a complete Amarok noob or what, but every time I have installed Amarok, I've had the same annoying issue. I can't see ratings (as well as other columns) in the playlist. It's annoying the hell out of me. I've gone through every setting, done some googling, searched these forums, and read the documentation with no luck. I've gone through all the menus and configuration options also with no luck. It's really annoying that such a simple and essential feature doesn't work and it's kind of a deal breaker.
If I can't get this fixed in the next day, I'm going to uninstall Amarok since it's worthless to me. I would hate to have to do this, since I already wasted hours importing my metadata into Amarok. FYI, the ratings thing didn't work before either. I've restarted Amarok, restarted my PC, etc. btw. Screenshot: http://imgur.com/mwSZG.png

What version of Amarok are you running, in what distro, and what version of KDE? I build from GIT, but have never seen my playlist display look as yours does. I using the verbose layout, which is chosen from the Playlist menu > Playlist layouts > Verbose. In addition, there is a Playlist Layout menu, from Playlist > Configure Playlist Layouts.
All this has been available as long as I remember, in Amarok 2.x. See the image at http://imagebin.ca/view/MpHS12.html |

Thanks! That did it. I never would have guessed that. I don't find this to be very clear or intuitive, but I'm glad it worked. Why provide those column options I showed in the screenshot when they don't do anything but frusturate me (and others I'm guessing)? Those options are there and still do nothing, but with verbose selected, I see what I want. Thanks again.

Actually, upon further review, I'm even more of an idiot. After seeing the "Show only matches" in the menu, I'm guessing those options are for searching, not column display.

Not an idiot at all. The controls seem completely natural to some, and difficult and foreign for others. We'd like to make it easy to use for everyone, of course, which is difficult when there is so much power under the hood!
