Hello forum,
I have my music on a central linux machine which has all my music files on it and runs a mysql server instance, which holds the amarok database (so no mysqlembedded). I have correctly setup amarok and the mysql database and a full collection scan issued from amarok correctly filled the mysql database. However as this is a screenless server which sits in my basement, I wanted a cron job to run the amarokcollectionscanner every 24h to keep the mysql database up-to-date. Unfortunately when running amarokcollectionscanner from the bash the mysql database does not get updated. Is this expected behaviour? Firing up amarok and performing an incremental scan there (which also only seems to call amarokcollectionscanner) adds the new media correctly to the database however. Thank you, Christoph |

amarokcollectionscanner just emits the XML scan result; it does not add it into the Amarok database. It is possible to have the XML emitted into a file in Amarok's directory which will be imported when it starts, however, but this does still require that Amarok be started.

Amarok runs collection scanner from time to time by itself, so you don't need to do It manually.
