Hi all. I've just installed amarok on my MacBook OS X 10.6.5 via fink. It starts fine, plays music from e.g. radio, but it won't scan my collection.

I've run amarok with the debug flag. Here's part of the log that appears on startup. Note the word "crash" that appears therein.

and here's what the log says after I click "rescan collection"

http://snipt.org/pgSh/

Here's the entire log: http://snipt.org/pgSo/

no scanning is done.

I'm using the embedded MySQL server. I could try an external database, but if there's a simpler fix I'd prefer it.

Help?,

I am sorry, but Amarok 2.2.2 is quite outdated, why don't you install the 2.3.2 version?

Using an internal or external database doesn't change anything, an external database would only be needed for use on more than one computer.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I'll give it a try. I do notice that fink has mysql 5.0, but the amarok wiki says that mysql embedded is supported only on 5.1. Maybe that's the problem. But if that's the case, surely there would have been some discussion of this. I'll have to decide if I want to build mysql. i'm a little apprehensive about building on fink. We'll see ...

[later that same day ...]

I built mysql using the instructions here:
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/amarok/20 ... 06779.html

and attempted to build amarok using these instructions:
http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/2.0_Development_HowTo

But amarok wouldn't build, claiming that taglib has no asf or mp4 support. fink has taglib 1.6.3, but taglib-extras is 1.0.1. Google tells me that there's some issue here. Either the fink version of taglib doesn't have it, or amarok isn't finding it for some reason. I commented out the lines in CMakeLists.txt that halts configuration when asf and mp4 aren't found, but then compile halted when Taglib-Extras couldn't be found, (as I said, fink's taglib-extras is installed ) . I commented out that one, and it halts with Qt qmake not found.

So now I can answer your question: *this* is why I hesitated trying amarok 2.3.2 on fink

Suggestion welcome. Meanwhile, I'll file a fink bug report.
