Hi All
Sorry if this is a duplicate, but I did search. I am running Mandriva 2010 x64, and until a couple of months ago Amarok worked perfectly. Then it started crashing, but I was unable at that time to get any eral debugging output. So I re-installed it. Now up to n times. Now, I get a oft-reported screen stating that the program could not find any collection plugins, with suggestion for runing a script (which IMHO is suitable for use when compiling). I am trying to run prepackaged softwaer. When run from the command line, I get the following:
I have tried the suggestions with cleaning out ./kde4/share amarok references, both apps and config, and have also removed same from ./kde branch, to no avail. Obviously, help would be most welcome. Regards James |

Have you tried running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental"?

Thank you for your response. Yes, I did do that. Sorry that I did not mention it above. There were several complaints about lack of semicolons, but some other issues as well with with Application type. After sorting htese issues, the command ran without error. Sadly, this did not fix the problem. Can anybody tell me exactly what the collection libraries are (filewise) ? When Amarok was working, I had extensive libraries. Name that I can URPMI, possibly ? Try this command first:
If it returns entries, then make sure your upgrade to Amarok packages worked fully, and contact your distribution if Amarok still won't start. If it returns nothing, read on. The problem isn't missing libraries, but rather missing *.desktop files. They can be found at the following locations:
The following command should return more than 1 collection for Amarok to function, once it does, you will be able to start it up without issues.

Hi All
Realised that I had performed the command 'kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental' as root. Performing it again as a user, the result gave more parsing errors, as for when I ran it as root. Again, commas were an issue, and some files declared to require a <comment> line. Fixed all the errors and ran the command again. And, sadly, Amarok still will not start, with the error messages identical. |

Again, Thanks for your reply. I performed the first command and got a extensive response, including about 4 offers. They all include lines indicating 'Invalid Properties', including Genericname, Icon, Exec, TerminalOptions and Path. This would IMHO most definitely be enough to stop something working, so I shall investigate same. Regards, James |

Any warnings from kbuildsycoca4 or ktraderclient can be safely ignored. The important part is the results returned from ktraderclient.
