Amarok 2.4 beta never finishes scan/update, all ratings gone

I just updated via the Kubuntu backports to Amarok 2.4 (2.3.90) and all my ratings are gone. When I do an "Update Collection" the scan gets to 49%, farts, and stops. What's more, it constantly tries to rescan until I click the cancel icon.

Should I report this bug?

If it does not update the scan then your collection should be still unchanged, how do you loose your ratings in such a case?
What exactly do you mean with "farts"? Does it make nasty noises and you smell something bad?

It will rescan every 30 seconds like the previous Amarok version did.

Yes, you should report this bug and if possible attach the last output (run amarok with --debug) and any other usefull information.

It looks to be using my old database but for some reason the ratings don't appear after the update. The farting could've been me.

I ran "amarok --debug" and after spewing an unenumerable sequence of text it spat out

"amarok: [ScanManager] ScannerJob finished
amarok: END__: virtual void ScannerJob::run() [DELAY Took (quite long) 8.2s]"

precisely where it stops scanning, at 49%. And 8.2s is *quite long* indeed!

Unfug. Amarok only scanned on changes, not in intervals.

Yes, it's stuck also when I run an "Update Collection" manually. I've noticed also that an amarok process hogs the cpu during this time. (I can't remember the process name but something like amarokcollection.)

I meant running scanner utility directly, not from Amarok UI.

It doesn't appear to get "stuck" when running from terminal. At least, it dropped me back into my home folder after a long time of scanning. But Amarok is still stuck at 49% when it scans from the GUI.

Same bug. Using openSUSE 11.3 and Amarok 2.3.90 from KDE Factory repo.

Tried to refresh collection from folder with only one mp3 file - amarok did the job quickly, but collection is empty.

amarokcollectionscanner seems to work fine.

+ Got many errors in console:

Tried to change collation in .kde4/share/apps/amarok/my.cnf from utf8_bin_unicode_ci to utf8_unicode_ci, but Amarok generates my.cnf every start.

Temporary solution: changes collation and changed owner of my.cnf to root. ;D
Got error, but Amarok works fine:
Code: Select all
amarok:           [ERROR__] Unable to open  "/home/zigmund/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/my.cnf"  for writing.
