Disc number in Amarok 2.4 beta1

Thu Dec 16, 2010 8:46 pm
I've been using Amarok 2.4 beta1 for a little while now and it seems very nice so far. I have only one issue with it.

I know there is a new collection scanner, and I was wondering if it supports disc numbers? I added a 2-CD album which I tagged using Kid3, "disc number 1/2" and "disc number 2/2". But Amarok doesn't seem to understand this anymore.

"Old" Amarok used to support such tags, and older multi-CD albums in my collection are grouped by disc number (still are). I.e. track numbers are shown as 1-2-3-3...-1-2-3-...

In the beta it shows as 1-1-2-2-3-3-... which results in them being played in the wrong order.

I've looked on the forums and on bugs.kde.org but couldn't find anything. Can anyone here tell me if it's a bug, a missing feature that will be added later, an overseen detail, anything else?

Any help would be appreciated :)

there are two id3 tags for disc numbers, one is the disc number, the other is the total number of discs (which Amarok currently doesn't display in the collection browser, only in the playlist), you shouldn't set both in the same as Amarok will only read the first number.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I think I've got it right, I'll add a screenshot of Kid3 showing which tags are set.

I've done it exactly the same for other albums that were added with older versions of Amarok with the old collection scanner, and they show up right.
