For some reason Amarok seems to think i have a song in /
not only does this file not exist but it shouldn't even be looking there...
I tried giving myself temporary read/write access to the directory and creating a file of the same name but all it would do is update the info in my library, still wouldnt let me delete it
please help
I'm running Amarok 2.3.0 on KDE 4.3.5

Hi,
older Amarok versions constantly checked for non existing files and were sloppy about the source directory.
The new Amarok changes both which is much cleaner but leads sometimes to a problem.

If you have an old collection or somehow the source directory got removed you no longer can remove that file unless you add / to your collection directory. Probably not what you want.

Directly manipulating the database is dangerous but will work.

I propose the following: Back up your database (it is in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/mysql) and then do a full rescan.

If you don't like the result of the scan you can restore the database and we can think about other options.
