Opensuse 11.3 x64/KDE 4.5.5/Amarok 2.4.0 - Using MySQL
All my playlists have duplicated ie I really have about 580, but Amarok thinks I have 1160 - two of each. Have tried doing full rescans etc to no avail. This *may* have happened after the last update....? Local Collection etc is still fine. What is the easiest way to clean this up? Thanks, John. |

Hey John,
If you are comfortable with some nitty gritty database hacking and don't mind loosing the database playlists I have a good solution for you. But first, back-up your database: - quit amarok - # cd $KDEHOME/share/apps/amarok - # cp -R mysqle mysqle-backup - Open script console in amarok (Menu > Tools > Script Manager) - Amarok.Collection.query("DELETE FROM playlists WHERE 1;"); Now it's also possible the playlists you are seeing duplicated are stored on disk. Please check by disabling "Merged View" in the toolbar. You'll see them under the header "Playlist Files on Disk". If that is the case just edit the file $KDEHOME/share/config/amarokrc . Behind the line with: [Loaded Playlist Files] you'll find the playlist files listed. Remove the duplicates. Also file a bug. I want to know how those playlist files got duplicated. |

Stecchino,
Thanks for the reply. I am actually using MySQL and had already deleted the database and let Amarok recreate it, but that had achieved nothing. Merged view wasn't enabled (as far as I could tell...) On your suggestion to check amarokrc, found that, yes, the whole list of playlists was duplicated within this file. Deleted all and ran a Full Rescan, and things are basically back to normal..... Any point in submitting a bug..? Thanks, John. |

I would still like to know how the duplication happened. Which versions did you upgrade from and to (guess 2.4.0 but better ask)? |

Offhand, not sure what versions... Running 'fairly' standard opensuse 11.3 x64, but have updated to KDE 4.5.5 manually (zypper update). Not an expert
Any logs anywhere that would tell me versions? Thanks, John. |

The easiest way to tell your version number is to use Help > About Amarok, which will tell you your KDE version as well as Amarok version.
