Hi there! Yesterday my laptop was turned off early devido a power outage (just at that moment was listening to music with Amarok 2.4).
When i start the pc again, I noticed that amarok does not start automatically. So I tried again manually, and got no response. I went to the console
$ amarok [/ quote] and I got the following error ...
unnamed app (2298): Communication problem with "amarok" Probably it crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown": "" The name org.kde.amarok not was provided by any. service files "" [/ quote] uninstall Amarok completely, and reinstalled ... But the problem persists ... any help? (pd. sorry for my bad english)

might be a corrupted file, try renaming the Amarok dir ~/[.kde|.kde4]/share/apps/amarok, if that fixes it you'll either need to rescan collection or try and determine which file is corrupt
alternatively you can: 1) run Amarok with the --debug option 2) use kdebugdialog to see if it provides added info (deselect all except amarok), restart Amarok and |

This is most likely a corrupted playlist - try rm ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/current.xspf (may be .kde4 rather than .kde). If that fails try moving the whole directory as suggested above.

Looking at other post, I also said that delete or rename the folder amarok, I did ... not be created again after reinstalling amarok.
Kdebugdialog Giving out the following:
i have ubuntu 10.10 |

from terminal run Amarok in debug mode with "amarok --debug" else you'll not get the info needed,
it'll be a fairly long log (you shouldn't paste the who thing here, if you can't select the relevant messages paste the log on pastebin.com or similar service and paste the link here) |

"timeout by message bus" anyway, here is the complete log link: http://pastebin.com/38CbaKdR |

think it's because earlier you tried running amarok with sudo (sudo is for command line, kdesu is for graphical apps). If you type "whoami" is the response root? You need to exit out of that konsole session, just typing "exit" should work. Running sudo played with the directory rights.
Maybe just reboot to start a clean session |

in whoami i get "dkwn" the name of my laptop
in debugg i get the same: dkwn@dkwn:~$ amarok --debug unnamed app(9636): Communication problem with "amarok" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.kde.amarok was not provided by any .service files" " But what strikes me is that when trying to open k3b I get the same problem! unnamed app(9948): Communication problem with "k3b" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.k3b.k3b was not provided by any .service files" " so.. i think is something that is giving me trouble all over the laptop |

whoami should respond with your user name not the name of the laptop, please reboot and try again

I read on the Internet for the error which fails org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown all KDE applications in Ubuntu. To resolve given the following solution
$ sudo rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-USER I did this, and finally amarok working again! and other kde programs thanks for you help! |
