I installed Amarok 2.3.2 today when I switched my computer to Ubuntu 10.10. At first I pulled over one folder of music to see how it worked, then once I got it working I loaded everything into Amarok. Once everything was loaded though, Amarok didn't play anything at all. When I try to play something, it shows the album cover and lyrics for a fraction of a second, then 'flashes' and doesn't do anything. It says that the song has been played recently and the play count goes up, but it never actually plays.
It has KDE 4.5.1. Does anybody have any ideas what might be going on? |

Go to Settings > Configure Amarok > Playback > Configure Playback, and test. Do you have sound? If yes, but your mp3s still aren't playing, then you are probably lacking codecs. Click the backend tab to see your choices (VLC, Gstreamer, Xine) and try a different one, perhaps. Be aware that you will need the codecs for your chosen backend.
Where to get the codecs here: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/FAQ#What_med ... support.3F |
