Having a prob where only every second track in a playlist actually plays. ie open a playlist and start playing track #1, and you will get to hear tracks 1,3,5,7,9 etc. If you then play track #2, you will get to hear tracks 2,4,6,8 etc. Watching as it plays, when it finishes a track, it will very quickly skip the next one and stop on the following....
Any ideas? John

That sounds very strange...
Do you have any filter or sorting or APG running?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

No filtering or anything - base Amarok install. What is APG?
Might just remove all the config and start afresh this evening... Thanks, John |

In that case - no, not running any APG...
Thanks. |

Hornetstar, does it make a difference if you change the phonon-backend? You can do that in Settings > Configure Amarok > Playback > Configure Phonon: Backend tab. If you have only one choice available, you can install others through your packaging system. Commonly available are VLC, Gstreamer, and Xine.
Also, have you tried running Amarok from the console?
You'll get lots of output, but you can watch as the skipping takes place, and see what that tells you. |

Please also disable all running scripts, there could well be the culprit.

If I change the backend (xine => gstreamer) I get a message that MP3 support is not built in - do I want to install it. It then (VERY quickly) comes back and tells me it's installed, I can play 1 track, and then it crashes. Restart and go through the same procedure. Tried exiting after the MP3 stuff installed and restarting to hopefully save the settings, but on restarting, same thing happened.
Running from the command line: amarok --debug --nofork using xine and then doesn't skip.. all works OK. Don't believe I am running any scripts... Thanks, John (It's hornetstEr... not a star at anything... - check the avatar - there's a hornet in there somewhere...) |

Sorted!
Deleted all the config files a couple of times (amarokrc, amarok_homerc, amarok_appletsrc, and the amarok config directory), and started afresh (ie starting amarok again gave me the setup wizard), but this made no change. Then blew away everything + the mysql database, reran and all worked fine.... But have just blown that away and fresh installed opensuse 11.4... All good so far. Thanks, John. |

Have just realised that in my new setup (opensuse 11.4), I again have this issue...
Back to the drawing board. John. |

hornetster, did you try changing the phonon backend? Settings > Configure Amarok > Playback > Configure Phonon: Backends tab. Move something else up to the top, and try again. If you have no other choices, Xine (old), VLC (new) and Gstreamer (new) are usually available as packages from your distro.

Sorry, no. Blew all the config away (including the mysql database), and it *seems* to be working again...

Well, if the problem starts up again, please try that so you can possibly pin down the cause. It will also help if you have the debugging package installed, and run amarok from the console:
All of this removal of settings and db each time it recurs are not helping to pin down the cause. |

At present running openSuse11.4 x64, KDE 4.6.0, Amarok 2.4.0.
If I have any more issue, I won't just blow it away... (promise.. ) Installing debugging package as we speak! Well, I would if there was one... Just looking at the package manager (YAST2), and the only Amarok entries are: 1. amarok 2. amarok-devel 3. amarok-lang There is no amarok-debug?? Thanks, John |

You might ask your packagers about that. Perhaps they don't split them off, in which case you already have them! Which is cool, and tell them I said so.
