I'm back.
Haven't worried about this for a while, and believe that I haven't had the issue again in opensuse, but.... a while ago (just after it was released) I installed the latest ubuntu (11.10) i386, and have been playing with it. Installed Amarok (2.4.3) a week or 2 ago, and it is using KDE 4.7.2, and MySQL (5.1.58-1ubuntu1), although I am running Unity (4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1). Have just noticed I have the same issue as before... ie only plays every second song. Totally new install of Ubuntu, with a different /home directory, but the music directories are the same, and hence the playlists. The playlist I'm playing at the moment is: http://www.box.net/shared/8a3uit387lofvtmi9ecf Ran Amarok from a terminal with:
and the relevant output is here: http://www.box.net/shared/0qhjij2qxzumlspb55vg I generally create my m3u files using easytag.... Thanks, John |

I guess you use the phonon-backend-gstreamer. Please use the phonon-backend-vlc instead.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Fairly sure I changed to the VLC backend the other day, but could be wrong... Will check tonight.
Thanks. |

Yep, was already using the vlc backend...
But had more issues this evening, started the program, and every time I went in to the GUI, would crash. Ended up deleting the amarokrc file, and now working, but with quite a few errors. eg: amarok: [SqlScanResultProcessor] deleteTrack "amarok-sqltrackuid://dbc849e5a0e58b7c270bc6ee6905b4f5" url id 9212 amarok: [WARNING] [MountPointManager] Device 0 not in database, this should never happen! amarok: [WARNING] [SqlScanResultProcessor] Found urls entry without directory. Sounds to me like a collection update problem. Please do a full collection rescan, then restart Amarok.

Deleted all tables in the mysql database, restarted and did a full scan. Now playing playlist - and still "every other track"...

What type of tracks are those?

At the moment playing an M3U playlist here:
http://www.box.net/shared/d5h18ag5k3k7x0annvt4 All mp3 tracks, and if I just play it straight from the "Local Music" all works fine... Thanks, john. |

Did you try recreating the playlist?

Just created a new playlist using EasyTag: http://www.box.net/shared/lmd4ueqxx7a9qsugncng
'bout twice the size (more complex file). Exactly the same: plays every other track... If I just drag & drop on Amarok from a file manager (Krusader), plays ok (ie every track) John. |

And this playlist is stored as a saved playlist in Amarok? I can't reproduce this here with my saved playlists, generated with Amarok.

They are just existing playlists sitting in the same directory as the mp3 files. ie directory layout is:
-DDD - Doobie Brothers - Best of - 1.mp3 - 2.mp3 - etc - Best.m3u Amarok then picks these up and makes them available as playlists.... Wouldn't be anything to do with the partitions?? The partition that these are sitting on is NTFS format, mounted under the /home directory. John. |

Just to be sure: you have no playlist actions or filter activated, do you?
