iPod Nano 8GB won't work in Amarok

Sat Feb 26, 2011 3:20 pm
I am running Amarok 2.3.2 under Kubuntu 10.10 (I have failed to figure out how to update it to 2.4, that is another story). When I plug in my iPod I get there is no reaction. I have read in another forum that through the menu Settings>>configure Amarok>>devices, that I can access my Pod. In the configure Amarok menu I only get the following choices:
General
Collection
Internet Services
Playback
Notifications
Database

None of which help me.

Any ideas?

To upgrade, see http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download:Kubuntu

If KDE detects your iPod, Amarok should too, automatically. It will show up below your Local Collection. If it shows 0 tracks, wait a bit for Amarok to catalog the contents.

Thanks for the update info, I now have Amrok 2.4. But still my pod is not recognised. I can see it in the file manager, I can look inside it (no songs as I have factory reset it) but I cannot access it from Amrok.

Strange! And yet we have another report of the same thing happening. Can you please run Amarok from the console,
Code: Select all
amarok --debug --nofork
and use the output in the console to file about this? From your Amarok menu, Help > Report Bug. You'll have to create an account if you haven't reported a KDE bug before.

Thanks for helping us improve Amarok, and sorry for your difficulties.
