When I select a bookmark it always starts at the beginning of the track. The bookmark might reference a position of 44 seconds, but it always starts at the beginning.
Version info: Amarok Version 2.3.0 Using KDE 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) What am I missing? |

You're using a very old version of Amarok there. I'd suggest you update Amarok and KDE to the latest version available for your version of Kubuntu with the following commands:
Hopefully then bookmarks will work properly. |

Thank you for the suggestion.
I am now at Amarok Version 2.3.2 Using KDE 4.5.3 (KDE 4.5.3) Still no relief. My problem may not have anything to due with bookmarking. When I try to jump to anywhere within a track, play start over at the beginning. I am also now getting the following when starting Amarok which does not seem to change its nature in any immediately observable way: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_file'. ?? |

If you haven't restarted since the update, that might fix the odd kio error.
If seeking isn't working, the culprit is likely your Phonon backend. Check in Settings > Configure Amarok > Playback > Configure Phonon > Backend to see which you're currently using (probably Xine). phonon-backend-gstreamer is available as an alternative in your version of Ubuntu, but the version you can get is also quite old and I can't guarantee that it'll work. (Newer versions of Ubuntu also have a VLC backend available.) |

I have found that the jump works on .flv files, but not on .m4v files using xine.
Thanks for your help. |

Errors involving loading of the kio_file slave generally indicate a severe issue with your KDE installation. Please try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" and ensure all packages are up to date.
Also, try enabling all debug information using kdebugdialog, and examining ~/.xsession-errors to see what errors are being encountered when trying to load kio_file. Note that enabling all debugging output using kdebugdialog will also likely increase the level of output when using Amarok.
