Dynamic playlist won't work

Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:04 pm
Hello,

I am using Kubuntu 10.10 and have updated to Amarok 2.4. It works fine except for the dynamic playlists. Before the upgrade it just took all of my music and cycled through at random (which is how I like it). Now I have to actaully load the tracks I want to hear. If I select the dynamic playlist and click on "repopulate" all tarcks disappear.

Any ideas. Please assume I have very little idea of what I am doing.

First of all, make sure that the dynamic playlist is actually enabled (with the checkbox in the corner of the dynamic playlist section), and track progression is set to standard (dropdown at the bottom of the playlist pane).

If it's still not working, start Amarok from the console with amarok --nofork --debug, wait until it's started up, then hit the "repopulate" button. Pastebin the output in the console after clicking that button, which should give some idea what's going on.

Thanks for the response,

Did that and nothing happened. I don't know what "pastebin" is, I assume it means to copy a lot of that stuff that spewed out so that you can have a look at it. I don't know how to do that.

There seems to be alot of "void scanner job"

While I am here I notice that you are also a Kubuntu user so perhaps I could pick your brains on another point. I have an ipod nano 8gb recently reset (new update). I tried to use Amarok to put music onto it but it created a new folder which the pod wouldn't play. Then I cannot disconnect it. On my computer it says that the pod is OK to disconnect, but on the pod itself, it won't give the OK.

I am still a windows user but would love to move over, but so many things are extremely difficult. Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Use a site like that. Copy and paste stuff in, hit submit and it'll give you a link you can post here.

I can't really help with iPod stuff; I know it's unreliable 'cos Apple make life difficult and we don't have any iPod using devs.

Thanks again,

I copied alot of stuff, don't know what is relevant:

<script src="http://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=NrcsyheQ"></script>

I hope it helps. As for the pod, I will keep plugging away.

The scanner job output isn't relevant; it's the automated collection watcher. Dynamic playlist output should label itself as dynamic playlist, bias solver, etc, if I remember correctly.

Okay, that looks useful. Definitely some oddities there. You'll need to wait for one of the devs to take a look at it.

Re: Dynamic playlist won't work  Topic is solved

Mon Feb 28, 2011 7:54 am
Just a note, it seems to have resolved itself.

I unchecked all folders where I store music.
Rescanned.
Closed Amorok.
Restarted Amorok
Rechecked my music folders
Rescanned

It worked, maybe it just needed a bit of shaking up. I don't know, but thanks for your time and patience.

From the output it seemed that Amarok though you had an empty collection.

Strange
