Hi, I'm running Mandriva 2010.2 x64 with all updates, KDE 4.4.3 and Amarok 2.3.2. My ipod will be recognized if I mount it first in a file manager or other music manager like Clementine. Is there a way to get Amarok to mount the device without having to go through this intermediate step?
Thanks, Jon

Whether or not this works, I don't know and can't test, as I don't use Mandriva, but this page: http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/mounting.html says:
"In Mandriva Linux you can just stick in your floppy or CD-ROM and immediately access the files on them, without mounting them first. After you're done, you can just remove them from the drive without unmounting them first. This can be done because of a tool called automount. "automount automatically mounts all the partitions and devices listed in /etc/fstab, no matter if the devices are physically there or not. This way you can access devices in Mandriva without mounting and unmounting them yourself." Hope this helps, Valorie |

Aha! You gave me an idea. I went into the desktop configuration and set it to automount the ipod. Now it shows up right away in Amarok. Thanks for the thought!
