G'day all.
Info first; Amarok 2.4.0 on KDE 4.4.5, Phonon with VLC backend. For some reason when playing albums ripped as flac playback does not progress from track to track. Any suggestions. p.s VLC backend is needed in order to play my VOIP service message bank files. Cheers. |

I strongly suggest you upgrade your KDE version, since KDE 4.4.5 ships Phonon version 4.4.1 and the current version is at Phonon 4.4.4 with a lot of bugfixes, especially in the VLC and the gstreamer backends.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately that's not an option at present. Aptosid is effectively Debian sid, thus until all the necessary transitions have been completed, for a later version of KDE to be availaible. Now that the freeze is over and Squeeze now Stable the Debian KDE team is working in earnest on this, with the possibility of 4.6 being available this month. (fingers crossed). Rest assured though that I intend to upgrade once this happens. I had hoped that there was perhaps a configuration option that I had overlooked. Apparently not. Cheers. |

Hello,
could you tell us if those problem could be fixed in Amarok 2.3 branch ? Kind regards, An Amarok Debian user |

Very unlikely, we don't work on that branch anymore. But of course, packagers are free to patch versions to backport fixes.
Anyway, since the problem is most likely Phonon related, it wouldn't concern Amarok branches at all. Please talk to your distribution to provide newer versions.

Sorry not to have got back to you sooner on this. I've had the opportunity to upgrade KDE to 4.6.1 recently as it has now become available for Debian sid via the qt-kde experimental snapshot repo. As you advised the playback issue is now resolved. Thank for taking the time to respond. |
