Control Amarok via terminal

Wed May 11, 2011 1:14 pm
Hi guys,

Is there a way to control amarok over a terminal window? I'm thinking of something like rvlc where you can type in "next" into the terminal and vlc plays the next track in the playlist.

Greetings,

Basic commands can be given simply by running amarok with arguments; see amarok --help for the full list, but examples include amarok --next, amarok --pause, etc.

For more complex commands, you can invoke the DBus interface from the command line using mdbus2 or qdbus.
