You must have missed something, especially the environment variables. Did you restart KDE after having set those to make sure those are available? I use Kubuntu 12.04 myself based on exactly the same guide (which I wrote after all) and everything builds as usual.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Phew, finally got it running. myenv.sh had a wrong folder somehow.
Amarok
Version 2.5-GIT
Using KDE 4.8.4 (4.8.4)

Nevertheless, podcasts copied from the local collection (i think the series of screenshots I made applies unchanged) are still put into the source folder of the player, not into the additionally specified podcast folder. There is no simple filter rule to find podcasts in the collection (are they even tagged in any way when saved to the collection?), so if you don't know the podcast name you might have trouble finding it.

Also, there is no option to mount the usb player from within amarok. Need to first open in e.g. dolphin.

Edit: I'm running Kubuntu 12.04, btw

Edit2: The "Genre" field in the file metadata would be such a tag, I guess.

If you add the player to the automount list in KDE Systemsettings -> Removable Devices it should get automounted when you connect it and show up in the Media Pane on the left. It works fine with my HTC android phone.

Wow, that's very convenient. I didn't know that KDE function.

One question still remains: How to make amarok copy podcasts into the specified podcast folder. Is this not yet fully implemented? Is there a bug report or should I file one?

Just found out about Super+1 2 3 4 5.. for rating (can be pressed multiple times for half ratings) and the automated playlist generator. Very convenient!

It still is a bug, not sure if it is related to Amarok or the player though. On some players this works as expected.
