Hello,
I'm using Amarok 2.4.1 on Gentoo Linux (KDE 4.6.3). My playlist simply contains my whole collection and is sorted by Artist / Year / Album. Sometimes I notice that tracks within one album are mixed up. For example I added a new album yesterday. It contains 14 tracks and all tracks are consecutively numbered from 1 to 14. I checked the id3v2 tags using Kid3 before I added the album to my collection. Also artist, album title and year are identical for all tracks. I deleted the playlist and added the whole collection to the playlist again. When I scrolled down to the new album the track order was mixed up like this: 11 12 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 13 10 14 I selected track 1 and started to listen to the album. I stopped after track 4. When I started Amarok today the order was mixed in a new way: 1 2 3 4 5 11 13 6 7 8 9 10 12 14 I continued to listen to track 5 and Amarok then correctly continued with track 6, so it plays the tracks in the correct sequence. I still don't understand why they are listed this way. Any help? Oliver |

Please check you have nothing set in the track progression options (Right icon at the bottom of the playlist).
Just to be precise: did you set the track numbers in the file name or is it also in the id3 tag for track numbers?

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Track progression is set to Random Albums/Not recently played. But this shouldn't make a difference. Other albums are ordered in correct sequence. I've now listened to the whole album, the ordering is still the same as yesterday. The track number is set in the id3 tags (v2 and then copied to v1 using Kid3) and also in the file names. I'm using Kid3 to name the tracks. They are named "01.<artist> - <title>.mp3" to "14.<artist> - <title>.mp3". I've also reset the track progression to default and restarted Amarok, the track order of this album is still in disorder. Oliver |

Very strange. So this only happens for this particular album?

Difficult to check as I have 300+ albums in my collection. But it seems Amarok doesn't like The Alan Parsons Project I have 9 albums from this artist, 3 are ok, 6 are in disorder, eg. Tales of Mystery... is sorted 1-8-9-2-3-4-5-6-7-10-11 Ammonia Avenue is sorted 5-6-1-2-3-4-7-8-9 Gaudi is sorted 4-5-6-1-2-3-7 Freudiana is sorted 2-3-5-6-1-4-7-8-...18 The next in disorder is an album from Blackmore's Night: 3-4-...-11-12-1-2 The other 7 albums from Blackmore's Night are ok. All albums from artists starting with letters C, D and E are ok... Yes, it's strange, I don't have an idea what's wrong. And as I said before, all id3 tags are in sequence and the file names are generated from the id3 track information using Kid3. Oliver |
